I was born in Wales, in Abertillery which is set in the coal mining valleys of eastern Wales.  I went to junior school and Grammar school in that town.  Later, I attended a teacher training college in Exeter, Devon, and then taught in Camberley , Surrey quite close to London.  In 1967 Cynthia and I emigrated to Canada and began teaching in the Comox Valley where we worked for over 30 years before retiring.

My hobbies are golf, reading, and watching all kinds of sports.  Cynthia and I also like to travel as much as we can. I am a volunteer for the B.C. Transplant Society, doing school presentations in high schools to make the students aware of the organ donor registry here in B.C., though I have slowed down in my participation over the years. I was a director of the local soup kitchen, the Sonshine Lunch Club, where it was my privilege to wash dishes weekly on Wednesdays! Cynthia and I are fortunate to have had two wonderful sons.  Also, we now have two grand-children and love them to bits!
